O, HOW FOOLISH | WITH KAYA COCOE (WE ALL WEEP DEVOTIONAL SERIES) DAY 2 OF 3

O, HOW FOOLISH

When we think that our wisdom outshines our greatest achievements, God is all the wiser.

In 1 Corinthians 1:25-31 it states: For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength. Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.  It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”

Where is your trust in God? When he called you, he saw you as weak, even foolish...not having influence. However, why does God use us in mighty ways, in wisdom, in righteousness, in sanctification, and redemption? It is because of Jesus Christ that we glory in the Lord.

Let us continue to glory in the Lord, because he alone has done it.

We are dust. (See Psalm 103:14) He remembers us, when we were formed in our mother's wombs, he foreknew us. (Jeremiah 1:5) He didn't discover us, he made us from scratch...each individual is tailored to his own will, goodly pleasure, pursuit, and joy.

Though, we often think O, how foolish...how foolish I have become or remain...I've made so many mistakes, bad choices, bad decisions, bad...bad...bad. I am nothing but the opposite of what I will ever be.

That's a lie.

In Christ, you are the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

In Christ, he chose you before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. (See Ephesians 1:4-6)

In love...you were predestined to be adopted through Jesus Christ because it was God's pleasure and will to the praise of his glorious grace. (See Ephesians 1:4-6)

Your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).

You are more than a conqueror through him who loves you. (Romans 8:37)

You are the light of the world. (Matthew 5:13-16)

You are set free...(See Ephesians 1:7)

You have been set apart...(See Hebrews 10:10)

No condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus...(Romans 8:1)

You are fearfully and wonderfully made...(See Psalm 139:13-15)

There are so much more promises, so much more delightful things given unto us by Christ Jesus. He has given gifts unto men when he ascended on high. (Ephesians 4:8)

When I think about the goodness of Jesus, how God came to rescue someone like me...I cannot help but cry. Some of you may think that crying is useless, but I want to tell you that crying is all I can do to say, "thank you." The fullness of God is the end goal, to be honest. He has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. (See 1 Peter 2:9)

I want to encourage you today, that God uses the foolish things to confound the wise. The weak things to confound the mighty. God can use you. He made you specific, unique, and tailored for his glory. Please, do not try to rationalize the goodness of God, he is awe. There is none good, but God. (See Mark 10:18)

Let us not be wise in our own eyes...for the wisdom of men can become a snare.

"That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God." (1 Corinthians 2:5)
