GIVE UP & GIVE IN | WITH KAYA COCOE (MARK IN SILENCE DEVOTIONAL SERIES) DAY 5 OF 7

GIVE UP & GIVE IN

Surrender is throwing up your hands and giving up the position of trying to be the god of your life.

We both know that God is sovereign, but we often forget that God knows all, it becomes redundant to keep reminding ourselves that he is in control, but that is the point...for if we forget we lose the battle freely. It is imperative that you keep reminding yourself of the goodness of God even if it has been days where you feel he has not been for you.

The truth is that God is right there, he may be silent for many reasons and knowing that God is all-knowing you can rest that God knows what he is doing.

The trick, the lie, and the deception is that the devil wants you to think that evil is winning, that evil will actually overcome the good. However, you must not be overcome with evil but overcome the evil with good. (See Romans 12:21) So, evil will never win the battle because the good, the holy will overcome it. 1 John 4:4 reminds us, "Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world."

We are greater.

We reach for greater and the Greater One lives in us.

To be honest, this is all we need to remind ourselves of when we are feeling weary. We also must not be ignorant of the enemy's devices (See 2 Corinthians 2:11) for his crafty but we have the mind of Christ...we are to be vigilant and awake. (References to 1 Corinthians 2:16 and 1 Peter 5:8).

Give it to God, give it up, and give in to the Maker of your soul, who made you for his good pleasure, meaning you are not here by accident but made on purpose for purpose. When we walk in purpose we walk as destined for greatness.

But maybe, this is not enough...you've come to that place where the warfare with weariness has you trapped and you don't know what else to do. Give in, it is that you are trying so desperately to keep on going yet it is in your own strength. Be weak. For the weakness of man is the beginning of the strength of God, for his strength is made perfect in our weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:9)

However, you may have doubts...the world is so evil, the bible has been changed and edited, the bills are due and there's no one to help, I see things and it's getting worse, I can't feel God anymore...I feel like I am not forgiven...

All of the above, are mighty in the mind, and are valid concerns but let me ask you this: Where is your history? Where is your history with God?

Read the record of his presence in your life, read the history of you and God...give up so you can give into God, stop trying this alone with your own ideas, strength, power...it will come a time where you will feel so exhausted, and I am not trying to scare you but life has a way of breaking us down.

So, remember the God of your sleepless nights, the prayers of fire that ignited your heart, the silence so peaceful it surpassed your understanding, the blessedness of having something to eat and drink, the breath of God in your lungs and...remember...and remember. For the very thing that is fighting you wants you to forget the record of God in your life.
