DEBILITATING PAIN | WITH KAYA COCOE (MARK IN SILENCE DEVOTIONAL SERIES) DAY 3 OF 7

 DEBILITATING PAIN

Not all pain feels the same, sometimes you are numb and other times you are paralyzed...

Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near...(See Isaiah 55:6) What happens when you are going through something so deep and rooted in pain that it is difficult to comprehend? The above Scripture is essential. Call to God despite the night of the darkest pain. But how do you seek him when you feel he is not nearby?

We think that God cannot hear us in the middle of the wilderness, but we must remember the story of Hagar and Ishmael. Baby Ishmael cried and God heard him. He was just a baby; his mother's eyes were opened by God to the well of water whereas before she did not see it. For she said, "Let me not see the death of the child." She then, lifted up her voice and wept.

15 When the water in the skin was gone, she put the boy under one of the bushes. 16 Then she went off and sat down about a bowshot away, for she thought, “I cannot watch the boy die.” And as she sat there, she began to sob. 17 God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there. 18 Lift the boy up and take him by the hand, for I will make him into a great nation.” 19 Then God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water. So, she went and filled the skin with water and gave the boy a drink. 20 God was with the boy as he grew up. He lived in the desert and became an archer. (Genesis 21:15-19)

How come God didn't hear Hagar? Well, read that again. God did hear Hagar by hearing her baby.

When it seems as though life has taken the toil on our heart's strings, there is another that we must unveil. It is the devil. More than likely, if you have found yourself in the midst of painful exhaustions than it is the enemy of your soul. For he comes to steal, kill, and destroy. (John 10:10).

We have to stay diligent: we are at war in the spirit realm.
There are principalities that war, dominions that war, demons that try and take territories...even bodies to do territorial work.

There are some that war with you because they know where you are going...so, once you realize that the Lord is to be sought after, don't lose sight of him. Don't let go of him, for when you find him. Hold on.
Don't be weary in holding on, be secured in your position to stay steadfast in him.

The way the wilderness can teach us is more valuable than we may think, it is not about survival. We are not merely surviving the pain...no, we are becoming tact, equipped, and trained for the blessing to arise.

Many may feel as if Ishmael was a mistake. If he was, then he wouldn't have been, because God knows all things even things to come. God knew Ishmael before he was in his mother's womb just as you. He made him into a great nation...why? Because God had plans of him all before time.

God, too, has a plan for you. Even, the pain you went through God will use it for your advantage and his glory. He truly, loves you. However, reading it isn't enough. You must seek him while he is near, meaning the moment you cry out to God, he hears you. Draw near to God, he will draw near to you. (See James 4:8)

That is the secret to overcoming the painful night, that paralyzed state, the debilitating arrival that seems to take you into a void. It is not simple, and not easy...first you must surrender and give into God, let him in. For the choice is in your power either way we may decipher it.
